One of the toughest days on the NFL calendar is approaching.

The deadline for this year's 53-man roster of the NFL is at 4 PM.

Teams will have to reduce a good portion of their rosters.

The NFL roster maximum before the cut day is 80.

This means that each team may be required to release

up to 27 players in order to comply with the NFL's roster rules.

The good news is that many of these players will be contracted to practice

squad contracts. Each NFL team will have 16 practice squad spots available,Some players

may still land on the 53-man roster even after being cut due to the NFL's injured reserve rules.

Hence, there will be a lot of roster reshuffles even after the cut day pass.

But for most players, the crucial decision will come before 4 pm.
