We first introduced you to Chris Thorburn's son Bennett in 2018.

Bennett's autism was diagnosed when he was just a child, which presented many difficulties for the Thorburn family

Because Chris traveled to North America for his hockey career.

So keeping my father at home for a few days and then staying away for some others was a challenge.

Chris said "I know my son needs stability in his life, but I am unable to provide it for him.

"I'm not because I don't want to be, but because my hockey schedule prevents me from being.

"Bennett is finding it difficult to deal with my absence as I get older. He fights the same way our whole family does.

It's hard for me to explain to her why I leave the house so often, but that'll probably be all

When my profession is over I become meaningful and I can spend every day with him and be best friends.

After an NHL career spanning 801 regular-season games, Chris retired from hockey in 2020.

Bennett has been doing some incredible things lately.

He will be in the NASCAR Xfinity Series New Holland 250 at Michigan International Speedway this weekend,

where he will get to compete with driver Ryan Ellis in a vehicle he co-designed with his younger siblings Mary and Oscar.
